Commerzbank reported a 139% increase in pre-tax profits for the first nine months of 2000 compared to the same period last year.

The increase, to €2.416bn ($2.07bn), derived largely from proceeds from online brokerage Comdirect Bank. Excluding the Comdirect proceeds, the figure totalled €1.38bn.
