Comment: Time to nationalise RBS

What’s the biggest problem with Royal Bank of Scotland? Does it pay too much in bonuses to its investment bankers? Is it competing unfairly against other firms? Or is it failing to lend enough to UK businesses?

All three are criticisms repeatedly levelled against RBS since the government took a stake in it last year and all three point to one problem - RBS is effectively a nationalised bank, but is still being run as if it were not.
