Competition for the best private equity managers intensifies

Smaller and medium-sized investors in private equity are worried about being able to match the performance of their larger peers, according to a survey, but they have been warned about settling for 'hairier' opportunities just to meet allocation targets.

A survey of 159 managers and 92 investors by online marketplace Palico found that mid-size and smaller investors are increasingly concerned about a growing performance gap between themselves and their larger competitors.
