Competition regulator clears Standard Life Aberdeen deal

Standard Life and Aberdeen Asset Management have been given the green light by the UK's Competition and Markets Authority to proceed with their multibillion-pound merger, putting them on track to complete the deal by the summer as planned.

The announcement today that the watchdog has cleared the transaction unconditionally comes exactly a month after the CMA  launched its investigation into whether the firms' planned merger would reduce competition.
