The Competition and Markets Authority is battling to reduce burnout with an initiative to help staff work less overtime while they tackle the watchdog's booming Brexit workload.

The "excess hours" project is exploring the pressures staff face to carry out important work without clocking in additional time, according to a person familiar with the review. Teams across the CMA are working to understand the causes of these pressures and to identify mitigations, the person added.
