The burden put on IT departments by compliance issues is growing, according to a worldwide survey by the Economist Intelligence Unit.

The report highlighted the increasing reliance that companies and top executives were putting on technology and IT departments to help them deal with compliance issues, such as document retention, financial regulation and business security.
