Lloyds TSB has turned its back on any opportunity of winning institutional fund management business for years by moving its investment business to Edinburgh.

The manoeuvre involves pushing Lloyds TSB's highly promising Hill Samuel Asset Management into Scottish Widows, whose track record is generally inferior and undermined by the recent departure of European star Albert Morillo.
