Panmure Gordon returned to profit last year after a loss-making 2015, with its chief executive expressing "measured confidence" about the UK stockbroker's prospects this year.

Panmure Gordon said in a trading update on January 9 that the 12 months to December 31 had been in line with expectations, while revenues in the second half of the year were higher than in the first half.
