The M&A recovery is not what it seems

Despite some promising signs, M&A activity is heading for another flat year. What does that say about M&A bankers?

Some religious groups have predicted the end of the world so many times that they’ve given up. Instead, they predict with a little less precision, that the world will come to an end “soon”.

M&A bankers, an altogether more optimistic bunch, have a similar article of faith: that there is an imminent surge in deal activity just around the corner (despite having been proved wrong for the past few years).
