Covid-19 forces HSBC to forbid shareholders to attend its AGM in person

The bank also said that the chair and CEO will not be giving speeches

UK bank HSBC has become the latest to announce that shareholders and “non-essential personnel” will be barred from attending its annual general meeting in person this year, due to the deadly coronavirus outbreak.

“Following the UK government’s introduction of social distancing measures and prohibition on non-essential travel and public gatherings, it will not be possible for shareholders to attend this year’s AGM in person,” the bank said in a statement on 6 April.
