Barclays Americas chairman Archibald Cox steps down

The man who led the negotiations to buy Lehman Brothers’ North American assets is to leave the bank after three years

Archibald Cox, the man who led Barclays Americas’ acquisition of Lehman Brothers’ North American assets, is to stand down as chairman of the bank at the end of this month after three years at the helm.

He joined in April 2008 to boost the bank's US business and was crucial in helping steer the bank through the credit crisis, the bank said yesterday.
