Senior bank debt status under threat

The safest tier of bank bonds, so called senior debt, is under threat because banks can no longer rely on the implicit support of governments to protect payouts, according to a report.

CreditSights analysts Simon Adamson and John Raymond said European senior bank debt is threatened from the regulatory backlash to the bailouts caused by the financial crisis.
