Crédit Agricole asset management business boosts weak results

Crédit Agricole reported weaker results for its corporate and investment banking divisions in 2001 compared to a year earlier, but a strong performance from its asset management business helped the group through a difficult year.

The net banking income for its corporate and investment banking divisions fell 8.9% to €2.7bn ($2.4bn) for 2001, while gross operating income fell 31.4% to €699m. Pre-tax income fell 27.3% to €594m.
