Crédit Lyonnais investment banking profits plummet

Profits at the investment banking division of Crédit Lyonnais plummeted to just €26m ($25.6m) in the first half of 2002, a 58.2% decline over the same period last year.

The bank attributed the weak performance to a 19.3% decline in the revenues on equities as a result of a fall in volumes, particularly in its broking business which is undergoing a restructuring process.
