The chief executive of Credit Suisse sees strong appetite for UK real estate despite the country’s plans to leave the EU, adding that he is optimistic about the broader European Union for the first time in his career.

Discussing property investment at an exclusive event hosted by Mansion Global, Financial News and The Times and Sunday Times newspapers, Tidjane Thiam singled out real estate as his top asset class in recent years. Asked by News Corp chief executive Robert Thomson which investment classes had performed well since the financial crisis, Thiam said: "Property did very well. The numbers are truly striking."
