The chief executive of Credit Suisse has ordered an internal investigation into the way the Swiss bank dealt with the alleged assault of a female employee by her manager in 2010.

The alleged victim, who is no longer with the bank, wrote to Tidjane Thiam at the start of the year regarding the incident, but the CEO only learned of the correspondence last week, the bank said in a statement on Sunday.
