Credit Suisse to take $450m hit on closure of York Capital Management hedge fund unit

The charge would impact the bank's core tier one capital ratio — a key measure of profitability — by seven basis points in the fourth quarter

Credit Suisse is set to take a $450m charge in the fourth quarter after hedge fund York Capital Management, in which it has a stake, announced it was winding down its European hedge fund business.

The Swiss bank said in a statement that it will take the impairment on its stake in the alternative asset manager, which it has owned since 2010.
