Crypto just had a rough weekend — here’s what happened

With more professional investors trading crypto, the market has increasingly moved in tandem with traditional markets

The cryptocurrency market fell over the weekend, mirroring the slide of the broader stock market.

The world’s largest cryptocurrency, bitcoin, fell to $34,656 on Sunday afternoon, 8 May, a 3.9% drop from the evening of 6 May, according to prices from CoinDesk. Earlier in the afternoon, bitcoin slid below $34,000 to about half of its all-time-high of $67,802 in November.
