Siemens, the German engineering group which shelved plans to acquire Austrian rival VA Tech less than two months ago, has re-appointed Credit Suisse First Boston to launch a new takeover attack.

CSFB has beaten Morgan Stanley to the mandate despite the US bank advising Siemens on several recent deals.
