Gary Lynch, Credit Suisse First Boston's new global head of legal, joins from a New York law firm known for its close association with JP Morgan and Morgan Stanley.
Lynch joins CSFB from Davis Polk & Wardwell, a hundred-year-old firm whose history is closely linked with that of the two Morgan houses. Davis Polk acted for the Morgan family before JP Morgan was split into investment and commercial banks in the 1930s in response to the Glass-Steagall act. More recently the firm has had close links with Morgan Stanley's private equity division.
