Philip Remnant, a managing director at Credit Suisse First Boston in London, is set to become the next director general of the UK Takeover Panel.

Remnant will start his new job on April 5, and will be on a two year secondment from the investment bank. His appointment was made by Peter Scott QC, panel chairman, and approved by Eddie George, governor of the Bank of England.
