Private equity group CVC Capital Partners has beaten Deutsche Post, Europe's largest mail carrier, to a 22% stake in Post Danmark. Deutsche had been firm favourite to win because of existing co-operation agreements with the Danish group.

CVC won over pricing and its lack of vested industry interests and bought the stake from the Danish Ministry of Transport and Energy for DKr1.27bn (€171m). Rothschild advised the Danish government.
