CVC has made a profitable exit from its investment in Cementbouw, the Dutch building materials company it bought for €845m ($960m) in 2001, by selling it to CRH, the Dublin-listed building materials group, in a €976m deal.
Hugo Van Berckel, head of CVC's Dutch office, attributes the undisclosed gain to CVC's success buying the company two years ago. CRH was one of the bidders it beat when it won the auction for Cementbouw. Two years on, CVC has been able to sell the company to CRH at a higher price.
