Dai-Ichi buys stake in Janus

Janus follows Aberdeen Asset Management in sealing a tie-up with a share purchase

Japanese insurer Dai-Ichi Life has agreed to take a stake of 15% to 20% in Janus Capital, a US-quoted asset manager, in a still-rare example of a strategic alliance involving a capital stake and a distribution agreement.

Janus, which has $152bn under management, said this morning it had "entered into a strategic alliance with the Dai-ichi Life Insurance Company."
