UK Chancellor of the Exchequer Alistair Darling nearly a fortnight ago became the latest figure to face tough questions from the powerful Treasury Select Committee about events leading up to and since the crisis at lender Northern Rock in August. The committee, which was officially meeting Darling to discuss his Pre-Budget Report, has hauled in executives from the Bank of England, the Financial Services Authority as well as Northern Rock itself in its efforts to root out the causes of the crisis.
The full transcript of Darling's meeting with the committee on October 25 is attached.
