Data protection group raises Mifid II concerns

A European Union working party set up to monitor data protection has written to the European Commission, saying that the review of the continent’s trading rulebook may not be compatible with existing privacy laws.

Isabelle Falque-Pierrotin, the chairwoman of the Article 29 Working Group, expressed concerns that data protection rules potentially have "insufficient implementation" within the review of the Markets in Financial Instruments Directive and the Market Abuse Regulation.
