Database to shed light on private equity performance

Private Equity Intelligence, a new data services firm, has created a database of private equity funds that is set to give sophisticated investors unprecedented access to performance information.

Private equity firms have traditionally kept information on its funds a closely-guarded secret from outsiders. The industry reacted with dismay last year when the University of Texas published details of fund performance.
