Cutting costs in a bank: Co-heads must roll

Partnerships are often said to combine different talents or expertise: the client schmoozer and the operations whiz; the banker and the trader. But that doesn’t mean they have to share the job

Forget the row over whether Brian Moynihan should be both chairman and chief executive of Bank of America. What annoys some bank investors more than executives having two jobs is executives sharing one job. Investment banks are littered with co-chiefs of this and co-heads of the other.

Deutsche Bank even has co-chief executives, though new arrival John Cryan will soon have the seat to himself.
