DC pensions offer ‘far fewer benefits'

Most defined-contribution (DC) pensions in the UK offer members less than two thirds the levels of benefits provided by a good final-salary scheme, according to a trade union survey.

Research by the Union Pensions Services, which provides information on pensions to trade unions, found that a handful of DC plans provide less than one half of the entitlements offered by a typical defined-benefit (DB) scheme.
