Christmas shutdown looms for IPO market

The window has effectively shut for large UK IPOs, although some bankers expect one or two more announcements from Europe

The window for launching new initial public offerings this year will slam shut next Friday, according to ECM bankers, with most large floats likely to be pushed into 2015.

"Time for the final IPOs to launch this year runs out next week, any later and pricing is too close to Christmas," said Adrian Lewis, HSBC's head of ECM in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. "The only situations we see pushing further into December are either rights issues or IPOs outside Europe."
