A study of the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine has shown that it may reduce the spread of coronavirus, marking the first time a vaccine has been demonstrated to slow the rate of transmission.

Health secretary Matt Hancock called the results “absolutely superb” on 3 February, after the study suggested the vaccine may have a “substantial” effect on the spreading of coronavirus.
