City firms including KPMG, Deloitte and Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer have cancelled Christmas parties in the wake of the government's announcement of Plan B measures, despite Prime Minister Boris Johnson saying parties can go ahead.

Johnson announced the new measures for England on 8 December in response to the spread of the Omicron variant of Covid-19.
