Deloitte is under investigation by the UK’s accounting watchdog over its work for a FTSE 250 building group that earlier this year revealed profit errors — the latest blow to one of the country’s giants of auditing.

The Financial Reporting Council said on Thursday that it has begun an investigation into Deloitte's work auditing the financial statements of SIG, a supplier of building materials, in 2015 and 2016.
