‘Delusional’ Carillion execs ‘surprised’ by speed of collapse

MPs grill bosses of collapsed construction firm over their business model, risk assessment, dividend payments and pension deficit

‘Delusional’ Carillion execs ‘surprised’ by speed of collapse

MPs quizzing the directors of collapsed construction and services company Carillion have called them "delusional" and accused them of being keen to foist the blame on a series of unforeseen factors.

Rachel Reeves and Frank Field, co-chairs of the joint Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy and Work and Pensions Committees inquiry into Carillion, released a statement this afternoon criticising the responses given by the group who oversaw the downfall of the firm. Carillion, which collapsed in January, was a major government contractor and heavily involved in the provision of public services.
