Deutsche Bank hires ex-Barclays debt chief

Mark Lewellen, whose role was put at risk by Barclays last year, re-emerges at troubled German lender

Deutsche Bank has hired the former co-head of debt capital markets at Barclays, one of the first big-name hires in its DCM division this year as the struggling German lender looks to bulk up the unit.

Mark Lewellen, whose role at Barclays was put under threat in November last year, will become head of corporate DCM at Deutsche, according to an April 12 statement from the German bank. He will report to Henrik Johnsson and Marc Fratepietro, global co-heads of DCM and the syndication team.
