Deutsche Bank links top banker bonuses to environmental targets

Deutsche’s move comes as rivals have also set out ambitious sustainability targets

Deutsche Bank will slash pay for its most senior executives if they fail to hit the bank’s ambitious targets for financing environmental, social and governance initiatives, in a striking move from a big bank to give real bite to its corporate green goals.

The German lender is tying the performance of its top level bankers to its sustainability goals from 2021, as large investment banks continue to roll out plans to cut financing to polluting companies and make their own operations more environmentally friendly.
