Deutsche Bank has hired former Electricité de France finance chief Thomas Piquemal as global head of mergers and acquisitions, starting this week.

Piquemal, who resigned from the French utility known as EDF nearly three months ago, will be based in Paris and report to Jeff Urwin, Deutsche Bank's New York-based head of corporate and investment banking.
