Deutsche Bank will hire up to 50 senior traders and bankers in a recruitment spree that is at odds with its promises to shareholders to slash costs at its investment bank.

The German lender, which has cut thousands of front-line jobs from its investment bank over the past year, is seeking to replenish the senior ranks of its trading and advisory units as executives continue to depart for rival banks, sources told Financial News.
