Deutsche battles to reclaim excess taxes

Deutsche Bank has appealed to Britain's highest court for compensation from the UK government after it paid excessive corporate taxes in the 1990s. The hearing is a test case for 55 litigants appealing for tax compensation from the government.

The bank argued in the House of Lords yesterday that it was entitled to compensation since a European court had ruled that "advance corporation tax" had been levied unlawfully by the government, Bloomberg reports.
