The chief executive of Deutsche Börse has resigned just days after a Frankfurt court said it would not be dropping an investigation into alleged insider dealing ahead of a failed merger with the London Stock Exchange.

Carsten Kengeter told the group's supervisory board that he would like to step down as CEO at the end of the year, Deutsche Börse said in a statement.
