Deutsche Borse calls its first digital bond ‘the MP3’ for the securities services industry

Last year, German securities needed paper-based notes that required physical storage. Regulation now allows firms to issue digital native securities

Deutsche Borse became the first exchange to go live with digital issuances in Germany, under its post-trade service provider Clearstream.

Until last year, German securities needed paper-based notes that required physical storage. Regulation now allows firms to issue digital native securities.

Jens Hachmeister, head of issuer services and new digital markets at Clearstream, likened digital bonds to the MP3 and the streaming revolution.
