Deutsche economists predict steepest fall in growth since second world war

The German bank has adjusted its global growth forecast to 0.8% for 2020, down from 3.2% last year

Deutsche Bank economists say the coronavirus pandemic will give way to a severe global recession this year, causing the biggest plunge in gross domestic product since the aftermath of the second world war.

The team at the German lender, led by Peter Hooper, global head of economic research, join a cohort of big-bank economists making gloomy forecasts for the world economy amid the spread of Covid-19.
