Deutsche Bank has hired the banker who helped push Swiss rival UBS to the top of the advisory rankings in Asia Pacific for the past decade, adding to its list of recent hires in the region.

Robert Rankin is to run Deutsche's Asia Pacific business excluding Japan, according to a statement. He will replace Colin Grassie as chief executive of the region starting June 10. Grassie is returning to Europe although details of his new role are yet to be announced.
