Deutsche keeps investors hanging

News Analysis: it's a case of déjà vu as Deutsche Bank fails to call another perpetual bond

Deutsche Bank has decided not to redeem a Tier 1 bond, which will soon lose its status as regulatory capital.

The first call date on the perpetual bond - the bank's first opportunity to redeem it and one that original investors would have expected it to take - is next month. As Deutsche Bank had to give investors 30 days' notice of any intention to exercise the option, yesterday was the last opportunity for it to do so.
