Deutsche Bank has spotted opportunities to make money in the Sahara desert. It is planning to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Relief by taking as many employees as possible to walk across the Sahara in March next year in the Deutsche Bank Sahara Challenge 2001. So far,
80 people have signed up to do this and to raise money themselves from sponsors. It is hoped that at least £150,000 (,000) will be raised. The trek is for 100km through the sands of Morocco. Insiders say that the physical demands of the trek mean that we are more likely to see promising young bankers than senior management heading for North Africa.
