Deutsche shifts emerging markets banker to wealth unit after shutting desk

German bank closed its Ceemea dealmaking desk, which Philipp von Danwitz led, last May as it refocused on core markets

Deutsche Bank has handed a lifeline to a senior dealmaker put at risk of redundancy in cuts announced last year, moving him to a new role at its wealth management unit.

Last May, Deutsche closed a desk of 10 investment bankers doing deals in emerging markets, following a decision to reshape its corporate finance team around core sectors and regions.
