Deutsche Telekom has until the summer to decide whether or not it should float T-Mobile, its mobile phone unit, this year, according to bankers close to the German telecommunications firm.

Ron Sommer, chief executive of DT, said on Friday that it was unlikely to proceed with the initial public offering of T-Mobile this year in the face of falling equities markets and last week's disappointing listing of Orange by France Télécom.
