Confirmation that Deutsche Bank will take the lead banking role in the rescue of Italian airline Alitalia is expected on Saturday.

Italian daily Il Sole Ore reports that Deutsche Bank will be the global co-ordinator of a €1.2bn ($1.44bn) rights issue and will underwrite half the €600m being taken by a syndicate of banks which are expected to be named this weekend.
