Deutsche wastes prize opportunity

The German bank spent many painful years and a great deal of money building up a business it is now poised to sell

For Deutsche Bank's custody business, the fat Fraulein may have started to sing. Last week's announcement that the bank was 'exploring strategic alternatives' for important parts of its securities services business was as close as it could get to nailing a big Closing Down Sale sign on the front door.
