Bob Diamond will fight to make sure Barclays Bank's private clients division maximises the use of products generated by Barclays Global Investors when he takes responsibility for its management next year, according to sources close to Barclays.

Diamond, who is chief executive of Barclays Capital, the investment bank, and fund arm Barclays Global Investors, will also be working to retain manager expertise at the unit following recent raids on its wealth management team by Taylor Young Investment Management and JM Finn, the broker.
